From Gene to Structure – a membrane protein example
There are many drug targets that are difficult to express, purify and/or crystallize such as the membrane protein GPCRs. Biortus considers its structural biology service a distinguished specialty offered to its pharma and biotech clients in tackling these challenges. Here we show a case study of how Biortus has solved a novel membrane protein structure from gene to structure in just 8 months. After obtaining crystallography-grade protein samples from its recombinant protein production team, Biortus structural biology team employed thousands of crystallization conditions for screening, and obtained hundreds of crystals. Ten data sets were collected with the best structure solved to 2.3 Å.
