Protein design facilitates the understanding of protein functions by rationally designing new protein molecules, optimizing their activity and behavior. According to different design purposes, protein design can be divided into protein structure design and protein function design. Protein structure design is divided into two types: de novo protein structure design and protein structure modification. A reasonable protein design method performs protein sequence prediction and folds it into a specific structure. These predicted sequences can then be experimentally verified by methods such as peptide synthesis, site-directed mutagenesis, or artificial gene synthesis.
